June Meeting.

Twenty two members attended the Annual General Meeting and Annual Display Competition which followed the usual format. The minutes of the 2008 AGM were approved with no matters arising. Next came the Treasurer’s report given by Peter, revealing a deficit of £22, somewhat better than last year. Peter reported that the club is still in a strong position and there was no reason to raise subscriptions again this year, which will stay at £14 with an optional £2 per year for tea and coffee at the meetings.

The programme secretary Gavin produced an excellent programme for speakers for the coming year, a copy of which is enclosed with this newsletter.

Next came the Chairman’s report. Frank reported another good year for the club though there was a small drop in membership (from 41 to 39) and very good attendance at meetings averaging 20. He reviewed the speakers for the year and thanked the committee for their work Looking forward we have the opportunity to host the Bans conference in 2011. This is the sort of opportunity that a club like ours should be taking on, though it will mean a great deal of work from all our members.

The election of the new committee came next and we are very fortunate that Michael has agreed to rejoin and James comes on to the committee for the first time. Peter continues as treasurer, James takes over as secretary, Gavin remains as programme secretary, Mick as Chairman, with Alistair as minute secretary and in charge of the library. Neil was re-elected as honorary auditor, Frank takes over as President with John, Henry and Graham as Vice Presidents.

Under AOB Mick Martin suggested that more people should take an interest in our social events. The formal AGM was then closed and there followed the Annual Display Competition.

Annual Display Competition.

The annual display competition attracted three entries. Once again the standard of entries was very commendable.

This year Graham was once again the deserved winner.
